Description of TeleEducation Course Database

The TeleCampus Online Course Database (Beta version) is now available with more than 5 000 courses. All comments and opinions are welcome. It is in Lotus Notes but it is now being converted to Oracle. It is among the first databases to conform to EduCom's (now EduCAUSE) Instruction Management System (IMS) standards.

Here are some interesting statistics (based on c. 4100 courses):

US Courses: 3272 (78%); Canadian: 740 (18%); Australia: 50 (1%); France 23 (<1%); Other countries: Bangladesh, Belgium, NZ, Japan, Iceland, S.Africa, UK, Sweden, Mexico

University Courses: 1861 (44%); Community College: 687 (16%); K12 443 (10%); Private Training: 1029 (24%)

English language courses:4 053 96%; French language 156 3.7% (We have not focused on other languages yet.)

The TeleCampus Online Course Database (Beta Version) limits its entries to only those course that can be followed online from anywhere in the world with an Internet connexion. This may include an initial mail out of materials, so correspondence courses that can be conducted through email are included, but videoconferencing courses are excluded unless they can be conducted through the Internet.
