Introduction

This workshop is offered as part of Ed-media 98, a conference sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Computers in Education. It covers the design, authoring, delivery, and management of web-based instructional material. The goal is to better understand how web courses work, what it means to create and/or teach a web course, how pedagogy can drive web technology, what is offered by course management systems, and how to plan for the future. The workshop has several parts:

1. On-site presentation and discussion:

2. Associated annotations:

Accompanying and cross-linked to the on-site presentation is a series of textual annotations which elaborate on the presentation slides.

3. A Webliography:

The webliography consists of all the links used in the presentation and annotations, plus a few.

4. Self-contained demonstration web course: Will run via the web following the meeting. Experience taking a web course as a student and managing/authoring the same course as an instructor. Takes 2 - 4 hours.
