Intended Audience and Uses

This workshop and these pages are designed for persons wanting to explore the practical aspects of Web-based pedagogy. It gives answers to the questions

One of the problems with the Web is that it presents a wealth of unfiltered information. This workshop is also intended as a filter - we have gathered an extensive collection of links which form a good place to start researching and exploring.

The first version of this workshop was run in 1997 at Louisiana State University and then the University of Hawaii. Subsequent versions have been run at conferences, including WebNet'97. During this time span the landscape of Web-based pedagogy has expanded and changed in some dramatic ways, and we have gained some understanding of audience interests. The focus has shifted increasingly to course management systems. We have also de-emphasized Part II, since very few participants seem to follow up with it, but added links to a number of opportunities to try out courses.
